Description
The present book has been restructured and the topic of Permutations in Number System has been rewritten. The product of two permutations and g on a set S is now based on the following definition : (fg)(x) = f (g (x)), for all x e S. In other words, we multiply two permutations according to ‘Right to Left Rule. We have also added Miscellaneous Examples at the end of every chapter. Th. have been drawn from latest University Examination Papers and these reflect new trends in the examination system. Some salient features of the book are : 1. Concepts and Theorems of Abstract Algebra and Number System explained in a very simple manner and profusely illustrated with examples and counter-examples. 2. A larger number of problems of Abstract Algebra taken from well known books and university papers solved in an easy to understand language. 3. Row rank and column rank have been defined in an elementary manner 4. Clear cut rules stated for the linear equations AX = B to be consistent to have trivial, non-trivial and infinite number of solutions. 5. Properties of characteristics roots and vectors have been proved in a simple way
