Indian Philosophy has a very wide spectrum, in which there were developed so many philosophical systems. In the same tradition, with the advent of Lord Buddha in 600 B.C.,. there appeared a new religion and philosophy named as ‘Buddhism’. His mind appealing teachings were very much liked and appreciated by the masses due to his practical and logical outlook. After the Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha his original teachings were collected by his followers in three big treatises called ‘Tripitakas’. But in due course of time, there started to grow divergence of views among his followers and the system got splitted into two branches Hinayana and Mahayana, which were again divided into four philosophical schools, namely, Vaibhasika, Sautrantika, Madhyamika (Sunyavada) and Yogacara (Vijnanvada). In each one of these schools, there emerged several thinkers like Nagarjuna, Vasubandhu, Dignaga, Dharmakirti etc., who enriched the Buddhist philosophy with their vast knowledge and sharp intellect.
