Hymns of Creation from Rig-Veda

Description

There are several Mantras in the Rig-Veda which reveal the mystery of creation. The fundamental proposition of the Rig-Veda is that the divine principle of Consciousness (Chaitanyam) called Purusha alone is the cause of this cosmic existence. In the primordial stage, the entire creation lies in an Unmanifest (Causal) state called Asat or Salil. The creation commences with the Creative Thought (Real Idea) of the primordial Purusha. That was an age of gods wherein everything was being directed towards manifestion. The consciousness becomes manifest as Hiranyagarbha at subtle plane. This subtle state can be called as the age of radiation. According to Rig-Veda, the gross creation called Virat emerges because of Cosmic Sacrifice (Yajna) performed by Prajapati with the assistance of gods and other divinities. Mind, life and matter were formed out of this Yajna. Subsequently, seven worlds (Lokas) along with their innumerable beings were created. This book presents the vision of the seers in these few hymns of creation from Rig-Veda. Mantras comprised in these hymns reveal the mystical knowledge which is based on the two fundamental principles of Drishti (super-sensuous perception) and Shruti (super-sensuous hearing). The mystery of creation is more lucidly revealed in the Rig-Veda than in any other system of knowledge.
